Pin Parvati Pass Trek Best Time

Almost every high altitude season, the Pin Parvati Pass trail also has two windows throughout the year. Let’s check them out:

  • Before monsoon or summer: The best time for the Pin Parvati Pass trek is around 20th June – 20th July. We are so precise about these dates to emphasise that the trek is ideal from the third week of June and the conditions remain good for around a month.
  • After fall or monsoon season: September to the middle of October, is also ideal for this trek. Don’t extend your plan beyond mid-October, as it gets too cold in the Spiti and Kullu regions. These regions often witness fresh snowfall in October. Hence, it is better to avoid it during the rising winter.

We suggest you stick to these windows to experience the beauty and adventure amid the most ideal weather conditions.

Challenges On The Trek

Even though it’s a long and strenuous trek, there are minimal challenges involved on the trail. Due to the high altitude, trekkers must have a high tolerance of weather conditions and high levels of physical and mental fitness. If you have all three of these, you are less likely to come across any challenges.

Beginners who lack physical and mental fitness should avoid this trek.

You should be prepared for the following:

Rucksack offloading is not allowed; hence, you will have to carry all your belongings in your rucksack throughout the 90 km trail.

This is only doable for those who are physically fit. The belongings will include heavy items such as your sleeping bag as well.

If you are wondering why you have to carry everything all along, it is for your own good. Carrying everything ensures you are safer in case of any unwanted situation or if you are stranded.

Apart from this, you should be aware that the trail has boulder stretches, moraine stretches, freezing cold river crossings, and crevasse-filled glaciers. Before reaching the Pin Parvati Pass trek starting point, make sure you have educated yourself on how to deal with all of these.

Things To Remember

Your budget decides the ultimate cost of your trek; however, it is likely to cost you between INR 25,000 and 50,000. And, if by chance you are not ready for this budget, we would suggest you wait and save. Because the Pin Parvati Pass Trek is something every traveller should witness once in a while.

The beautiful greenery and flowers of Odi Thach leave an absolute melody in hearts. Especially when you feel them after a tough trek among wind-carved rock formations and cold glaciers. By the end of the trek, the hot water springs at Parvati Kund, Kheerganga, are also amazing in themselves.

Talking through personal experience, words are not enough to describe how worthwhile this trek is. Imagine bathing in a hot water spring after a hardcore trek. You will rate it better than a five-star sauna.

So, the best thing to remember is that the Pin Parvati Pass trek is unmissable. Wait until you are fit and fine to go. But don’t let it go off your bucket list for any reason.
